Why Take This Course?

This is the PA mandatory CE class for the 2026-2028 license renewal cycle.

Real estate professionals are entrusted with access to consumers’ homes, possessions, and confidential information. This course examines disciplinary actions taken by the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission involving improper access to property, unauthorized possession of keys, premature buyer occupancy, misuse of consumer information, and failures to exercise reasonable professional skill and care. Through analysis of actual enforcement cases, participants will identify risk areas, understand their legal and ethical obligations, and develop best practices to protect consumers, their brokerages, and their licenses.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Explain a licensee’s duty to protect consumers’ real property, personal property, and confidential information.
2. Identify conduct that constitutes improper access to real property.
3. Recognize risks associated with sharing lockbox codes, keys, and access credentials.
4. Apply best practices when buyers request access prior to closing.
5. Understand the consequences of unauthorized disclosure of consumer information.
6. Analyze disciplinary cases and identify strategies to avoid similar violations.
